Description

Jack Malone sits in his favorite place in his back yard, gazing across the magnificent Atlantic Ocean and wondering how his life would eventually turn out. Jack lives in one of the most beautiful colonial homes in Garland, South Carolina and it sits on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Jack's girlfriend Ruby lives in a full sized basement while Jack lives in the rest of the house. They plan to marry, but not right now. Jacks life was perfect, until the day he met another occupier of the house. Late in the evening, Jack smelled bacon frying and thought his girlfriend was cooking. Wrong. As he walked slowly down his stairs, he saw someone he didn't know eating at his kitchen table. The intruder, as Jack called him, rose from the table and looked at Jack.

This was a day that Jack would never forget. The man walked toward Jack. No smiles or frowns, just a solemn face, as one would have if looked upon in his final resting place. In an instant the being changed to his girlfriend and then back to his future father-in-law and when he reached Jack, he changed to Jack. Jack looked at him and almost had a heart attack. The being was a clone of Jack, but for only a minute or so. He then changed back to someone Jack didn't know and disappeared. Jack stood in his tracks for several minutes. Ruby found him at her door in the basement as white as a sheet and staring as if in a trance.

This was the beginning of several events that seemed unreal to Jack and Ruby. There were Spirits, fourteen in all, in the basement - including a small girl straight from hell, with her demons and evil ways - that roamed the entire house. Jack later found that Sojourner, the male African-American ghost, was the first slave to exit a ship onto a new America, and he came with his wife of many years, Lela Brown...
